Legend has it that the eight drunken immortals sword form in Wudang came from the eight immortals in Taoism (Han Zhongli, Lu Dongbing, Tie Guaili, Zhang Guolao, He Xian'gu, Lan Chaihe, Cao Guojiu, Han Xiangzi). In the drunken sword form, the body is drunken but not the steps; steps drunken but not the mind; mind drunken but not the spirit. The body waves about from the left to the right, like clouds when slow; like rushing thunder when rapid. Hardness blends together perfectly with softness, making it difficult to distinguish true attacks from feints.

For all the popularity of Drunken style it is rare to find an instructional source that is actually helpful. The Drunken 8 Immortal Sword lives up to its association with those famous Taoist saints. Rolling, swaying, twisting, back bends and the obligatory heavy quaffing.
