Description:

The Xuanwu Cudgel (staff) is an internal weapon form unique to the Wudang style of martial arts. The staff is used as an extension of the body, utilizing both hardness (Yang) and softness (Yin). This 2-disc DVD video set teaches the entire Wudang Xuanwu Cudgel form.

This is a nice example of the WuDang style staff. Move smoothly and naturally as a snake and calmly as a tortoise but with the power of a tiger, fierce and hard. Main techniques include chop, point, raise, hang, cloud, sweep, block and parry, stressing the integration of the body and the cudgel and the thorough application of force and change in movements. Movements are fluid and graceful with many changes. Medium length and relatively small area used. The DVDs has the advantage of clear instruction with applications of the staff moves included as though fighting against another staff. Performed on a beautiful old temple terrace. 

This form features aggressive, powerful, and rapid strikes with the staff. At the same time, it requires a quiet heart, sunken Chi (qi), concentrating spirit, and smooth force to master. A truly unique traditional form of Wudang martial arts, the Xuanwu Cudgel Form is an essential component of the Wudang system.
